The White Bull is situated in the village of Bilsborrow, which is now an amalgamation with neighbouring Myerscough. Bilsborrow is mentioned in the Doomsday book and referred to as "Bilevurd" named after the Danish king "Billin".
The history records do not hold much about The White Bull, but what we do know is that it is the oldest public house in Bilsborrow, and that it was here that the horses towing the canal barges were changed and stabled.
The White Bull lays next to the Lancaster Canal that stretches from Green Man Bridge in the north to Hankinson House in the south.
What the visitors say...
My partner and I had a fabulous lunch at The White Bull. We sat outside and watched the activities on the canal which runs alongside. We returned that evening as they had entertainment laid on. We were impressed by the standard of the entertainment. Staff and local customers were very friendly - Allison Pettitt, www.bestpubs.co.uk
The White Bull is the sister pub to The Plough Inn at Galgate and is run by Gary and Sarah who welcome friends, old and new.
